Who we are

The Tor-Rox Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales (1211496), that provides cancer patients access to physical activity whilst undergoing a cancer diagnosis.

The Tor-Rox Foundation is an organisation that provides people with a current cancer diagnosis with financial grants to be able to access specialist exercise programmes, designed for the individual to improve their health and fitness.

The charity receives applications and works with the individual to find a suitable fitness facility or exercise programme.

The focus is on strength training, specifically small group PT, with dedicated coaches in a friendly environment.

Our mission

Empowering cancer patients through exercise, enhancing their quality of life.

The Tor-Rox Foundation should be a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the impact that compassion and determination can have on the lives of others, empowering cancer patients to find their strength, one workout at a time.

The charity aims to make positive impacts on the lives of cancer patients with a current cancer diagnosis, by providing financial grants to support and assist people to gain access to exercise programmes.  It will do this by providing financial grants to access independent facilities that are catered to support the needs of each person.

The grants will be for use at an independent fitness facility that specialise in small group PT, where cancer patients will have 1 to 1 support and guidance.

The Tor-Rox Foundation strives to encourage/promote movement throughout cancer treatment and beyond. Our goal is to improve both the mental and physical well-being of individuals navigating a cancer diagnosis and its associated treatments.

How being more physically active can help

Physical activity can improve your quality of life and help you feel better – regular exercise can help to reduce stress and give you more energy.

Research* has shown that there is strong evidence that certain ways of being active can help people with cancer:

  • reduce anxiety
  • improve depression
  • reduce fatigue
  • improve quality of life during and after cancer treatment
  • prevent or improve lymphoedema (a type of swelling caused by treatment to lymph nodes)
  • improve general physical functioning
